Big Crash Leaves Pick-Up Truck in Need of a Heavy Duty Tow

Our heavy duty towing team received a call from the Virginia State Police for assistance with a Dodge pickup that had crashed off of an underpass on Route 460. As they were pulling up to the scene, they were greeted by the sight of both the fire department and police department setting up a safety perimeter around the scene of the accident. This lane closure gave the heavy duty towing team safe and easy access to the pickup which had crashed through the wall and landed in a shallow gully.

Working closely with the fire department, the heavy duty towing team prepared a rescue plan that would ensure as little disturbance and leakage into the gully as possible. A large ladder was set up for the team to climb down. They attached rigging equipment and recovery straps to the pickup truck whilst assessing the debris and fallen parts below. Slowly and carefully the crane began lifting the pickup from the creek, rotating to situate the truck onto the nearby rollback for transport. After a quick scene clean up below, the ladder was removed from the creek, the debris and misplaced parts were loaded onto the rollback and the heavy duty towing team were able to prepare for transport.

After arriving back at the storage facility, the heavy duty tow equipment was cleaned and reconditioned ready for their next rescue mission. Good work team!

Details of Big Crash Leaves Pick-Up Truck in Need of a Heavy Duty Tow

The heavy duty towing team was contacted by Virginia State Police to respond for a Dodge pickup that had crashed into a gully under an overpass on Route 460 in Lynchburg, Virginia.

The heavy duty towing team needed a 65 Ton Sliding Rotator to respond. The heavy duty towing team quickly dispatched a rotator, rollback, roadside service truck, and extra manpower for the recovery. The heavy duty towing team positioned the 65 Ton Sliding Rotator in the EB lane next to the casualty. The heavy duty towing team found the truck over a concrete wall approximately 20ft into a creek with the back resting on the wall. The heavy duty towing team and Fire Department set up a large ladder in order to grant access to and from the truck. The heavy duty towing team went down into the gully and began attaching all rigging equipment and recovery straps to the truck. The heavy duty towing team chose this procedure due to poor stability of the truck and preventing fluids from pouring into the creek. The heavy duty towing team climbed out of the creek once the rigging was complete. The heavy duty towing team slowly began using the crane to lift the truck out of the creek/ gully area. The heavy duty towing team used the boom to slowly rotate the truck while in the air and place it on the rollback for transport. The heavy duty towing team placed the ladder back to climb back down into the gully. The heavy duty towing team cleaned up all debris, wheels, tires, etc. that had landed in the creek below. The heavy duty towing team loaded all the debris onto the rollback for transport. The heavy duty towing team removed the ladder from the gully. The heavy duty towing team removed all the rigging equipment from the casualty and placed it back on the rotator. The heavy duty towing team transported the truck back to a secure storage facility in Lynchburg. The heavy duty towing team cleaned all equipment.
